Do ChatGPT, Grok, Kling or Sora allow NSFW? What to use instead

ChatGPT: announced, delayed, shelved

For about six months, ChatGPT looked like it was about to become the biggest adult chat app in the world. Then it didn't.

So ChatGPT behaves the way it always has. Romance inside a story can pass. A kiss can pass. Anything graphic gets declined, and its image tools follow the same rules. When it delayed the launch, OpenAI said getting the experience right "will take more time". Six months on, there's no sign of it.

Where ChatGPT still earns its keep is the non-explicit prep. Ask it to tighten a character bio, name a fictional city, or turn a rambling scenario into a first message with some bite. Then take that to a tool built for adults. Our guide to building your own AI girlfriend works exactly that way.

Grok: the only yes, and it's a small one

Grok Imagine has an opt-in setting called Spicy mode. It's the one official door to adult-leaning output from a mainstream AI company, and it comes with a lot of conditions attached:

• a paid SuperGrok or X Premium+ plan, which costs more than most of the adult chat sites we list;
• an 18+ age check;
• mostly the iOS and Android apps, not the web;
• not every country, including parts of the UK and EU;
• no real people, ever.

The fences went up for a reason. In January 2026, the Grok account on X was used to make sexualised images of real people without their consent, and Ofcom opened a formal investigation on 12 January. Since then, xAI has put image generation behind a subscription and tightened the filters more than once. Regular users report that Spicy now stops somewhere around suggestive.

Our take: if you already pay for Grok, have a play. Don't subscribe for Spicy alone. For the same money you can have a tool whose whole job is adult content, with none of the guessing about what today's filter allows.

How to turn on Grok's Spicy mode

xAI doesn't publish an official walkthrough, and the menus move between app updates. This is the route users and guides report as of late September 2026 (Fello AI's guide, updated 25 September):

1. 01PlanBe on SuperGrok or X Premium+. The cheaper tiers, SuperGrok Lite and basic X Premium included, don't get Spicy.
2. 02AgeConfirm you're 18 or over: a birth year on your account, and in the UK an ID or selfie age check.
3. 03SettingsUnder Settings → Content Preferences, turn on "Display sensitive media".
4. 04ImagineIn Imagine's own settings, turn on "Allow sensitive media generation".
5. 05GenerateOpen Imagine in the iOS or Android app and pick Spicy from the mode menu.

If Spicy still doesn't show up, it's usually your region: availability is set per account, and it isn't offered everywhere. We wouldn't try to work around that.

Kling: a flat no, in writing

Kling makes some of the best motion in AI video, so it gets asked a lot. The answer is in its community guidelines, last updated on 8 September 2026. They ban content depicting sexual acts, explicit depictions of private parts in a sexual context, and anything promoting pornography. That covers text-to-video, image-to-video and the rest.

There's no adult mode, no hidden toggle and no higher plan that changes it. Kling is a mainstream creative tool, and it's moderated like one. Accounts that keep pushing can be restricted.

Sora: nothing left to ask

OpenAI announced it was shutting Sora down on 24 March 2026. The app and website closed on 26 April, and the Sora 2 API followed on 24 September.

Even while it ran, Sora banned sexual content on every tier, with checks on the prompt, the frames and the audio. There was never a verified-adult mode. So anything still selling "Sora NSFW" today isn't Sora, and deserves the same suspicion as any other site borrowing a famous name.

What to use instead

The mainstream tools are built to say no to this. Plenty of tools are built to say yes. Pick what you were hoping the big names would do:
